MESSAGE FROM NFPA PRESIDENT
RANDY WALLIS

The North Florida Procurement Association (NFPA) is a local chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), but we are also an organization of Procurement Professionals in our own right. Being a professional is not only a goal; it is a necessity in today’s fast-paced, quickly changing procurement landscape. Whether the path to being a Procurement Professional is one you are just starting, or you have achieved it, our mission is to ensure you have all the tools necessary to help you reach, or stay at that elevated level. With our training, NIGP classes, chapter meetings, seminars, newsletter and web site, we'll help you stay current on your profession.

By networking with your peers you can keep up-to-date with new acquisition strategies and contractual trends. Chapter members' backgrounds represent all facets of public purchasing – state, local and county government agencies, public schools and universities, fire, emergency and law enforcement, utility, public health and housing authorities. Networking can give you a wealth of information and insight that cannot easily be gathered in any other way.

Our chapter has been extremely successful at achieving these goals since our chartering in March 2005, but it does not happen by accident or by itself. Therefore, we are always seeking new volunteers for chapter committees, which are essential for the continued success of the chapter.

Please contact one of your Executive Board Members for more information on how to become a chapter volunteer. Active involvement in the NFPA, whether as a committee
member, committee chair or board member, can develop your skills in leadership and management, skills which are transferable to your own organization. You can also earn valuable NIGP recertification points for active membership, serving on committees or being a chapter officer. So, if you haven’t volunteered yet to be on one of the NFPA committees, think about doing so now. Each of you is part of what makes this chapter work. Be a part of making a difference by joining a committee. Lastly, it is an honor to be able to serve as your President for this coming year. If there is anything that I can do to assist and serve you, please do not hesitate to phone or email me. I am here to SERVE.

Thank you for your continued support.

Respectfully,

Randy Wallis MSA, CPPB
